Impact of Raltegravir on immune reconstitution and thymopoiesis in HIV-1-infected patients with undetectable viremia
نویسندگان
چکیده
Methods Patients on highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) with long-term suppressed viremia were selected and divided according to treatment: switched to RAL vs. maintained the same regimen (control group). Samples were collected at the time of RAL switch (0) and six months after (+6). Immune parameters were assessed in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) using fivecolour flow cytometry. Analysis of naïve and memory CD4+ Tcells (CD45RA and CD27) was combined with measurements of activation (CD38) and with CD31 expression. Results were reported as median [IQR] and comparisons were performed with Mann-Whitney tests.

Hepatitis E Virus Seroprevalence and Viremia in Hemodialysis and HIV Infected Patients in Iran
Background and Aims: Hepatitis E virus (HEV) infection is usually a self-limited viral disease that causes acute hepatitis and may progress to chronic hepatitis in immunosuppressed individuals. It seems that hemodialysis patients and HIV infected people are more exposed to HEV infection. The aim of this study was to evaluate the extent of HEV infection in hemodialysis and HIV infected patients ...
متن کاملThe Prognosis of Late Presenters in the Era of Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy in Serbia
To examine the prognosis of patients who present with very advanced HIV-induced immunodeficiency, and their response to highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART), a series of 101 treatment naïve patients from the Serbian cohort of HIV infected patients, who presented with a CD4 count of </= 50/microL before commencing HAART, was retrospectively analyzed and factors influencing response to HA...
متن کاملOpportunistic infection as a cause of transient viremia in chronically infected HIV patients under treatment with HAART.
When highly active antiretroviral therapy is administered for long periods of time to HIV-1 infected patients, most patients achieve viral loads that are "undetectable" by standard assay (i.e., HIV -1 RNA<50 copies/ml). Yet despite exhibiting sustained viral loads below the level of detection, a number of these patients experience unexplained episodes of transient viremia or viral "blips". We p...

متن کاملPersistant immunodominant anti-gag SLYNTVATL responses in HIV-patients with up to 7 years of HAART.
We analyzed Gag-specific CD8+ T-cells in HIV-patients on long-term HAART and in untreated chronically-infected patients by using iTAg MHC class I tetramers (HLA-A*0201) specific for SLYNTVATL. Gag SLYNTVATL-specific CD8+ T-cells were detectable in 18 of 26 treated patients (median 5.2 years of HAART) and in 10 of 14 untreated patients. Median percentage of Gag SLYNTVATL-specific CD8+ T-cells in...
